Alva produced high quality lighting using manufacturing processes indigenous to the UK. At first, the company made products using materials and processes developed for the Grimsby fish packing industry. These retailed through many well-known high-street stores including John Lewis and Heals.
The company went on to develop ranges using bone china made in Stoke-on Trent. Clean reflected light combined with ambient diffused light made these popular in the hospitality sector. Working with architects and specifiers, Alva supplied lighting for many restaurants and hotels across Europe, including the Grand Hotel Palazzo dei Dogi in Venice and the Cumberland Hotel in London.
